Matthew Gilliland
Senior Director of Development
As Senior Director of Development at GridStor, Matt leads regional project development strategy and execution in the Southwest Power Pool and other emerging markets. He is responsible for driving regulatory and policy engagement within his region, ensuring cross-functional alignment, and identifying strategic acquisition opportunities that support GridStor’s broader regional growth objectives.
Matt has previously worked in energy storage development at REV Renewables/LS Power, where he developed and permitted 3,000 MWh of standalone battery projects in Southern California and originated land for an additional 750 MW of California BESS sites. Prior to that he worked in PJM solar PV development at Cypress Creek Renewables and environmental consulting in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has a BA from UC Santa Barbara and an MBA from UCLA.
